However, for plant and animal photos, digital images predominate because old pictures of a butterfly on a flower rarely have documentary value and almost identical motifs can be captured anew every year with powerful digital cameras. A cross spider taken handheld with a fast focus-stacking capable digital camera looks considerably better than the analogue shot with lower depth of field.
A large part of the animal photos were created as part of product tests (digital cameras and lenses) or for tutorials on photographic techniques for articles in magazines and websites.
